Chalk and Alex bought and cooked a turducken, and invited us all around to help consume it.
Making gravy, slicing up, making a mess. (You're meant to leave it for an hour after cooking, but we were hungry.)
Yes, we ated the whole thing!
The duck, chicken and turkey were all amazing - so moist.

Our front room's window has a reflective coating that helps keep the heat down (just a bit). Unfortunately birds like to fly in to it at full speed as it looks like sky to them.
One such bird was this, which Lui identified as a juvenile Black Faced Cuckoo Shrike. It seemed dazed and couldn't or wouldn't fly. We kept it in a shoebox overnight to see if it just needed some time. The next morning we let it out, but not all parts of it seemed to be working, and it only just made it over our fence before crash landing in next door's garden. Another night in the box and it was able to fly in a low curve around our house and out of sight. No idea if it made it to safety.

I drive past this house at Wacol often and wonder what happened.. termites, or a big gust of wind? (Or both.)

Setting up the massive tarp was a massive effort. The wind tried to blow us away, but two hours later and we were the envy of the campground.
Someone else's also-awesome camp site.
Shawn & Rachael
Customary visit to the Coffs Candy Kitchen at the Big Banana.
Still enamel-destroyingly delicious!
Another place to hang your jeans up to dry, I guess. Coffs Harbour.
The duelling butane stoves and their operators cooked up a storm. Thanks to Shawn & Rachael's pressure cooker, we had veggie stew one night, casserole the next.. then burgers on the third day.
Panoramic shot(for those with wide screens) (not stitched).
A nice* spot to break down on Summerland Way
* Complete with large piles of beer bottles and a dodgy mattress.

Monday, January 11, 2010 The first cutout is the deepest. The first big bump caused the tap to get ripped out of the water container. Lloyd alerted us to the fact that a liquid was pouring out of the back (which could have been diesel or water).
First breakdown. All of the water boiled away (bad radiator cap).
Time to eat, drink and be merry.
Bush sink.
In to town town for a bit of NextG goodness. (No mobile reception at the camp site.)
1: Looks like a nice spot to break down.
2: Lloyd pulling out an X-Trail that really didn't belong on the sand.
Lake Mackenzie.

Doesn't look like much, unless you are hitting it at 80km/h

Someone gutting a fish at Indian Head
1: The local snake at Central Station, seen after eating one bush rat. According to Ranger Bob, by the end of our stay it had eaten three more.
2: A dingo (this one was tagged)
Another dingo (young, untagged)
