A touch of kitesurfing at Elephant Rock.
Surfers Paradise dominates the Goldie's coastline. Like a memorised canonical list of 'Yo Momma' jokes at a high school, everywhere you look, there it is.

Today I rode 36km - Miami to Southport and back. There are a few km of unpaved tracks at Southport oceanway which seem longer because sand is rather hard to cycle through.
After owning my bike for 7 years, I've finally worked out how to make the bell go ding.
Monday, November 10, 2008It's almost Christmas. How long until we see hot-cross buns at Coles?

11/11/2008 | "Our" (UK's) Easter eggs now have little strings attached to the foil wrapper so you can hang them on your Christmas tree any that are not eaten you can then keep for the real Easter.
We can still get X buns at Tesco - with crosses or without, with fruit or without or for those who don't like a plain bun or one with fruit, Tesco also do a bun with chocolate!!!!!!! |

Last time I came here with an eye to photographing surfers, I failed miserably. Maybe a little better this time?

Some more wildlife at Cabarita.
Back at the tent, I had a guest.

I had a dip in this nice spot that we discovered while riding. Being a touch early in the morning, the water was a bit chilly, and sucked all of the warmth out of me for the rest of the day.
Entirely at my leisure, I drove to Cabarita Beach and walked up to the headland. Here I saw some birds fishing.

Brisbane's big storm on Tuesday (10k without power, not much really) hit the world news, but didn't touch the Gold Coast much. Only on Wednesday, after a pleasant blue morning, the clouds rolled in, dropped HAIL, then rolled away again. Very random. Very GC.

For a tiny car, we managed to fit a lot of stuff in to Mr Swift. This included: tent, clothes, esky, crate of eating gear, crate of food.
Note: Carefully placed curtain rod and non-slip mats, and the use of a lanyard & shoelace to hold up the rear shelf.

Louise is back from Darwinia, and to celebrate, we went drinking.
Why so sad? It's because Shez & Lui are heading off.
Original aim was to drive back to the Gold Coast and camp for the night. Due to supreme tiredness we just stayed in Brisbane. The tent will be fine without us.
Friday, October 24, 2008*No pictures for a few days, as I'm still away camping.
I take that back.

To be brief: I had the miner's hat on, so had a very narrow beam of light; put my key in the lock; saw a tail, thought it was a gecko; looked up, saw it wasn't a gecko; ran off and got camera.
I couldn't see that it was a carpet snake, only that it was brown and a snake. Camera has better eyes than I do.

28/10/2008 | You can tell by the shape of the head that the snake is a python. A brown snake wouldn't have been there when you got back with the camera. :-* |
Monday, October 20, 2008Congrats to Lui for passing her manual driving test!
The Swift broke down! Luckily Lancer was there to save the day.
