Location:
At home, kitchenThe Setup:
I bought this piece of broccoli with the intention of photographing it, then eating it. I put both off for a few days, which meant the latter wasn't going to be much good. I set up the broccoli on our kitchen table in front of the purple wall (to contrast with the green vegetable), propped up by an oven mit. I had the camera sitting on the table, propped up with one of Evelyn's bibs - to change the angle ever-so-slightly.The camera & lens:
Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL@ 27/1mm
Exposure: 1/1" @ f/20/1, ISO 1600
Post processing:

Lightroom - I raised almost every level in sight. I upped the blacks, fill light and clarity, to add punch and definition to the ... let's call them nodules. I also set a severe curve, highlights to +100, darks down to -100.
The wash-up:
I would have cut off a floret so that it stood alone (no brothers along the sides). I actually tried this, but couldn't cut it long enough and it wouldn't stand by itself (this would have required choosing a different one at the shops, requiring more forward planning). Also by that time I just wanted to go to bed so gave up.What do you think?
All constructive criticism is welcome! Please let me know what you think, and what you don't like about the picture. Everything is on the table, including the setup, equipment used, and the post processing. Nothing is off-limits and I'm always eager to learn!2011-07-20 19:15:07
