Project365 [202/365]: Screw just having a foreground, midground and background

Location:

Brisbane City, north bank

The Setup:

On my way to weekly Bridge to Brisbane training, I had no pictures planned, but this shot presented itself to me. I won't say I climbed a fence, because there are signs pointing out that any act like that is against council regulations.

I like that there are many planes in the shot, and lots of action - with none of it interfering with the rest. I tried a few different exposure options to make sure the bits that counted had the best exposure (did you know, when you tap to focus on iPhone, it adjusts exposure for that point as well? At least it does in CameraPrime.)

@ 77/20mm
Exposure: 1/15" @ f/28/10, ISO 500

Post processing:

Lightroom - This was fairly well exposed in-camera so there was not much to do. I used the recovery bar to reign in the blown-out highlights on the nearest road lane (from floodlights on the bikeway). The curve I set lightened the other highlights, and lightened the mid-darks as well. Top it off with a bit of noise reduction, since any adjustments you make to a reasonably noisy shot will end up with grain the size of Volkswagens.

The wash-up:

Quite happy with this one. Taking with the SLR would result in a better image quality & colour depth, but it would be much harder to get the deep depth of field that the compact can do with such ease.

What do you think?

All constructive criticism is welcome! Please let me know what you think, and what you don't like about the picture. Everything is on the table, including the setup, equipment used, and the post processing. Nothing is off-limits and I'm always eager to learn!
