Fortitude Valley, Brisbane
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

It's bloomin' hot. To go for a walk is to hop from shady spot to shady spot.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Panasonic DMC-FX01
Lens: Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 4.6-16.8mm (28-102mm equiv) f/2.8-5.6 @ 16.8mm
Exposure: 1/100" @ f/5.6, ISO 80 (0/100)

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Preset: B&W Look 5, which uses desaturation to get a B&W image, with shadow levels -15, temp +60 and tint +25.
  2. Presence: Highlights +100, shadows -10, white clipping +50, black clipping -35
  3. Crop
  4. Graduated filter for bottom shade area: Exposure -4 stops, contrast +100, highlights -100, shadows -100 (This was to de-emphasise where the shade ended, or to make the shade area look bigger than it actually was.)
