Brisbane City
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

This is a fountain attached to a plaque/sculpture type thing. The writing on it is decidedly Georgian. (The praises to King George also hint at that.)

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 650D
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 15mm
Exposure: 1/30" @ f/5.6, ISO 320 (Auto ISO, Av)

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Preset: B&W Look 5, which uses desaturation to get a B&W image, with shadow levels -15, temp +60 and tint +25.
  2. Presence: Highlights +25, shadows -15, white clipping +25, black clipping -60.
  3. Curves: darks -5, shadows -15

While I normally really like the b&w version of your shots I love the original better for this one – the colour of the sandstone makes the shot. I like the composition and framing of the shot.

I know this one! This is where the hobos come to wash their unmentionables! Great spot to shoot at night, too. Did you see they have just unearthed the lost remains of King Richard III under a carpark? Cool stuff that monarchy 🙂
