Brisbane Botanical Gardens, Mount Coot-tha, Brisbane
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

This is Evelyn looking into a pool of geodesic infinity.

I've always loved the geodesic dome at the botanical gardens. We took a day trip up to see some flowers and some cakes. In this picture, Evelyn is leaning over the edge and trying to go for a swim. Out of frame is Lui holding on to Evelyn so she doesn't go and further, and quietly urging me to hurry the up with taking my photo.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 17mm
Exposure: 1/40" @ f/3.5, ISO 400

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Presence: Exposure -0.8 stops, highlights +50, shadows -100, white clipping +40, black clipping -65, clarity +50
  2. Curves: Darks +50, shadows -40
  3. ACR lens correction profile for EF-S 15-85
  4. One spot removal (there were other candidates, but this one was a big spot)

The wash-up:

Maybe polariser would have been good for this, although the reflection was what I was really after.

What would you do?
