A decaying and broken billboard sign.

M1 Service Road, Yatala
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Shot on my riding odyssey. As I understand it, the service road (which the bike path runs along) used to be the highway. This sign would have been visible to people commuting between Brisbane and Gold Coast.

My memory of back then was that there wasn't anything of note between Beenleigh and Helensvale - just bushland. Now it's developed and built-up the whole way.

The camera & lens:

Camera: DSC-RX100M2
Lens: Sony RX100M2 fixed lens 10.4-37.1mm f/1.8-4.9 (28-105mm equivalent) @ 10.4mm
Exposure: 1/400" @ f/4.5, ISO 160 (Aperture priority)

Post processing:

Lightroom 5 -

  1. Basic: Highlights -80, shadows +5, black clipping -30, clarity +30
  2. Crop and rotate

There certainly wasn't a train line there when I was a lad. Some of my fondest memories of the Gold Coast were of Magic Mountain. Seems like so long ago now.
