The Setup:

Implementing instructions from Repurpose a Squeeze Bottle for Perfect Pancakes (Lifehacker).

There is a bit of fiddly cleaning required before and after doing this, but it's so much less messy than pouring from a jug.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 15mm
Exposure: 1/40" @ f/3.5, ISO 400 ((for left picture))

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 - Prepare left image

  1. Convert to B&W (auto colour mix)
  2. Crop square
  3. Exposure +0.8 stops, contrast -40, highlights +25, shadows -20, whites -50, blacks -65, clarity +30
  4. Lens Correction for EF-S 15-85.
  5. Post-crop vignetting, amount -20
Lightroom 4 - Prepare right image
  1. Convert to B&W (auto colour mix)
  2. Crop square
  3. Exposure +1.85 stops, contrast -40, highlights +100, shadows -20, whites -30, blacks -70, clarity +30
  4. Post-crop vignetting, amount -20
Photoshop Elements 6 (Mac)
  1. Layer 1 left image
  2. Layer 2 right image
  3. I used the grid view to arrange the images with equal sized edging
Lightroom 4 (final touches)
  1. Highlights +30, clarity +50
