Currumbin Sanctuary, Gold Coast
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Afternoon lorikeet feeding session. They get all over you.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 650D
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 16mm
Exposure: 1/1600" @ f/3.5, ISO 100 (Av, auto ISO)

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Exposure +2 stops (auto exposure went for the sky rather than me - to be expected)
  2. Crop
  3. Noise reduction: luminance +30, colour +100 (raising the exposure by this much brought out a lot of colour noise)

The wash-up:

I was using the flip out rear screen to compose a lot of shots, but this one happened too quickly to use that.
