Point Danger, Gold Coast (Qld-NSW border)
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

I remember these steps from when a group of us stayed at Coolangatta in 2000 (Beach House!). (Actually this is a ramp that has been added since then - the steps were too well-lit.) I set the camera up on tripod and a 30 second delay, then walked down into frame with the light saber during the 3 minute exposure.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 650D
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 15mm
Exposure: 181" @ f/4, ISO 100 (M, bulb mode with intervalometer)

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. White Balance: Tungsten
  2. Spot removal - to remove a boat on the horizon.

The wash-up:

I stood too still at the purple bit, and you can see my feet. I moved around but not enough!
