Location:

Bradfield Bridge, Ipswich
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

It seems like this was a dumping spot for materials. Being so public, I assume it's temporary. I shot this through some metal fencing, but the long focal length and open aperture rendered the fence almost invisible.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM @ 210/1mm
Exposure: 1/250" @ f/5/1, ISO 400

Post processing:

Lightroom -

  1. Cropped & rotated
  2. Converted to B&W
  3. Raised the mid-tones and dropped the shadow levels
  4. Added a vignette.

The wash-up:

Actually, I don't mind this, but what attracted me to the shot was the contrast between the clear pipes and the blocked pipes - with the blocked pipes being more of a feature. After post-processing, the clear pipes are the feature.

What would you do?
