M3, Bowen Hills, Brisbane
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

For the fun run, I knew I wanted to get some kind of shot of the hubbub. I've never been able to work out what makes a crowd shot work. (If only there was some kind of reference work available on the subject.) I had planned to get a shot of the water stations, as this one has worked for me in the past but it didn't work out this year.

The camera & lens:

@ 77/20mm
Exposure: 1/1100" @ f/28/10, ISO 80

Post processing:

Lightroom - The challenge here was to lighten those people in the shadow of the bridge. The curves adjustment was lights +20 and darks -10, but using fill light (+50) did the best work. Clarity +100 helped to define the edges and add more contrast. Apart from a heavy crop, that was it.

The wash-up:

I wasn't planning for this shot but planning it was a welcome distraction from the pain.
