At home, Ipswich
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Inspired by this shot by sweett@365project, I picked a feather from the garden* and set it up for a macro photo.

* I grow feathers. Next to the nasturtiums.

I set up a poor man's light box (without the box), using a flouro light from outside and a sheet of paper to diffuse the light. The paper has provided a neat texture for the background as well.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II @ 22mm
Filters: 0.42x fisheye filter (macro mode)
Exposure: 0.8" @ f/22, ISO 100 (Av, 1-stop exposure bracketing)

Post processing:

Lightroom - I cropped and rotated slightly. The curve adjustment was minor (lights +35, darks -5), and clarity +100 After processing, the right-hand side of the picture was too dark. A graduated filter didn't quite work out as it also blew out the paper texture, so a spot adjustment filter did the trick.

The wash-up:

I thought I could have laid it out in a more interesting pose, but it was getting late and this was "good enough".
