The Setup:

Yesterday Lui and I dug up two shrubs. They had been in there a long time and what is pictured here was all underground. I did some mattocking and Lui did the digging and levering. This is what I picture when I think 'tarball'.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
@ 27/1mm
Filters: 0.42x fisheye filter (fisheye mode)
Exposure: 1/60" @ f/63/10, ISO 400

Post processing:

Lightroom -

  1. B&W didn't work for this one (contrast too low, nowhere for the eye to lock on to)
  2. Curves: Lights +45, darks -5
  3. Fill light +5, clarity +100, saturation +10
  4. Lens correction for Sigma 8mm fisheye, but with the distortion down to +15 (default is +100)

The wash-up:

I wish I had taken some more care with the composition, as it looks like (_)_)
