License: No Re-Use (What does this mean?)

Location:

At work, Brisbane City
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

As a team we all dressed up for Melbourne Cup day (despite being quite a long way from Melbourne). The boys wore suits and the girls wore frocks and fascinators (mostly).

With the bright windows in the background, I opted to take a light reading and then use manual exposure mode to make sure there were no inky shadows.

I bet $5 in the sweeps and won back $4. But it's okay, I plan to win the rest back on the pokies.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
@ 30/1mm
Exposure: 1/60" @ f/22/10, ISO 400

Post processing:

Lightroom -

  1. Crop slightly to centre the subject
  2. Recovery +100, fill light +15, blacks +15
  3. Temperature +280K, just to balance the cold flouro lighting

The wash-up:

I would have gone for a slightly lower exposure. As it was, I had to use recovery a lot to bring back those highlights.

I also would have moved the guys over so there wasn't a cubicle wall in the shot (horror of bad composition).

What would you do?
