At home, Ipswich
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

This is the external speaker on our cordless phone base station. I cropped out all the bits that make it look like anything.

This was a go-to image for me since my main idea for the day didn't work out.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
@ 33/1mm
Exposure: 30/1" @ f/11/1, ISO 100

Post processing:

Lightroom -

  1. Auto apply a B&W preset I have called "PSKiss-FilmStyleBW-01". It auto applies curves (lights +60, darks -12, shadows -12), brightness +45, contrast +45, clarity +50 and increases the colour mixes in all channels, but mainly green and aqua.
  2. Lightroom lens correction: I chose the Sigma 17-50mm profile, though it's not the lens I shot with, the Sigma profile gives more corrections than the Canon profile. I set distortion +200 for the profile, then moved to manual mode and added +8 more distortion. The lever in manual mode has a much bigger effect but has to be used very carefully.
  3. Clarity +100

The wash-up:

I stopped down the aperture but it was still fuzzy at the edges - I probably should have stopped down further!
