A set of escalators under maintenance, with the steps removed.

Central Station, Brisbane
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

At Central they have been working on the escalators for weeks now, spending about a week on each. I perched up and took a photo through the barrier to capture the abject misery of all of those forced to walk up the stairs.

The camera & lens:

Camera: iPhone 4
Lens: iPhone 4 fixed lens (30mm equivalent) @ 77/20mm
Exposure: 1/15" @ f/28/10, ISO 640

Post processing:

Lightroom -

  1. Curves: lights +30, darks +30, shadows -35
  2. Lens correction: Manual - horizontal correction +10. This corrected the perspective somewhat. This is the first time I've successfully used this edit - it is adjusted so the picture looks straighter. This only works if the picture was almost right in the first place.

The wash-up:

I didn't take any other photos today.
