Queens Park, Ipswich
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Pig's eye view in the piglet pen of Queens Park. This was taken during a photo lesson and I was demonstrating the act of scatter-shooting without being able to compose properly (leaning over the fence with arms stretched).

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 15mm
Exposure: 1/4000" @ f/3.5, ISO 1600 (0/3 (ISO setting was an accident!))

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 - It was a very sunny day and as shot, there are blown highlights, but the RAW file had some detail still available to recover.

  1. Presence: Exposure -1 stop, contrast -40, highlights -60, shadows +15, whites -100, blacks -25, clarity +25.
  2. Noise reduction: Luminance +35
  3. Spot adjustment on the pig's snout, exposure +2.2 stops.

The wash-up:

Some deeper depth of field would be good here. The eyes are in focus though, so I'm happy.
