Seascape with fog-blurred lights in the background and clear foreground features. Includes lightspill due to long exposure.

Redcliffe Jetty, Redcliffe
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Photo outing with Al, Mick, Anthony, David and Steve. As fog started to set in over the water and we started to wrap things up, this is the last photo I took for the evening. The lights from The Port of Brisbane were dulled by the fog, whereas features closer in were clear.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 650D
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 85mm
Exposure: 263" @ f/11, ISO 100 (0/1)

Post processing:

Lightroom 5 -

  1. Crop
  2. Graduated filter: from below the lights down to bottom of frame: Exposure +0.5 stops, contrast +50, clarity +60
  3. Noise reduction: luminance +50, detail +100; colour +100, detail +100
  4. Sharpening: amount +20, radius 1.7, detail +40, masking +50
