Brisbane City
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Rally for detainees at Manus Island, held at Queens Park in Brisbane. Organised by the Refugee Action Collective.

Onlookers watching the march from inside their windows - with seemingly nonchalant person walking in front.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Sony RX100 II
Lens: Sony RX100M2 fixed lens 10.4-37.1mm f/1.8-4.9 (28-105mm equivalent) @ 10.4mm
Exposure: 1/200" @ f/1.8, ISO 6400 (Shutter priority - 1/200, Auto ISO up to 6400)

Post processing:

The first decision I had was whether to straighten the window or leave it. Either probably would have worked, but I decided to go with the straighten. Lightroom 5 -

  1. Auto upright perspective straighten tool
  2. Crop
  3. Basic: Clarity +50
  4. Noise reduction: Luminance +40
  5. Lens corrections: Defringe purple, amount +15 (lots and lots of purple fringing due to the bright light inside the window)
