An abandoned warehouse with a backlit angel figure.

Seven Hills, Qld
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Spent an afternoon and evening at the abandoned TAFE. For this picture, I stood still while Al light painted around me with the light sabers (one on red, one on purple). This also lit up the room. He painted for about 30 seconds, and then we ducked out of frame and left the shutter open for another few minutes to catch the ambient light.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS @ 15mm
Exposure: 181/1" @ f/5.0, ISO 400 (0/3)

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Presence: Clarity +15
  2. ACR lens profile correction for EF-S 15-85mm
  3. Spot adjustments to darken the windows, and remove a reflection from the pole on the right.
  4. Noise reduction: luminance +30

The wash-up:

I think this came out splendidly.
