Fireworks over beach and ocean.

Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Surfers Paradise Festival fireworks over the water at the beach - awesome.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Sony RX100 II
Lens: Sony RX100M2 fixed lens 10.4-37.1mm f/1.8-4.9 (28-105mm equivalent) @ 10.4mm
Exposure: 2.5" @ f/4.5, ISO 200 (0/10)

Post processing:

Lightroom 5 -

  1. Crop
  2. Basic: Contrast +70, highlights -100, shadows -25, white clipping -25, black clipping -100, clarity +20 (to reduce the smoke haze and increase contrast)
  3. Colour temperature -340 - to cool the sand colour down a bit
  4. Noise reduction: Luminance +20

The wash-up:

I forgot my tripod so had to rest the camera on something. Poor preparation. Focus was off because I was rushing to get everything else going.
