A man jumping in the air (frozen by flash), above a floor painted with blue light.

Underwood, Brisbane
General location: Australia, South-East Queensland

The Setup:

Alan and Mick invited me to a drain in Brisbane... for light painting. Oliver was there as well, and he light-painted the floor. Alan set off the flash manually on the count of three. I was further back and took a "making of" shot. Mick's shot is here.

The camera & lens:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
Lens: Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX-DC @ 30mm
Exposure: 79" @ f/8, ISO 200 (Manual, bulb, intervalometer )

Post processing:

Lightroom 4 -

  1. Exposure +0.6 stops, clarity +30

The wash-up:

I'm happy with this!

This is great, Sheridan. I like everything about it, wouldn’t change a thing. It also appeals to my inflated desire for modesty 😀

Used pixlr: kaleidoscope filter with default settings, then cropped out the right side, leaving left side (could have gone the other way around as well)
